One of BHETA’s roles is lobbying on behalf of its members, whether it’s dealing with problems or making the very most of opportunities.
This can include representing members’ interests in regard to trading terms, taking on government bodies in regard to proposed legislation, proposing sensible compromise solutions in disputes, representing the industry on contentious issues and pursuing mutual interests when opportunities arise.
Learn how our lobbying services have helped our members
BHETA is a very experienced and effective lobbyist; having a co-ordinated and collective voice can be a vital asset to our members.
BHETA has recently represented its membership vis-à-vis retailers’ attempts to change their trading terms, resulting not only in commitments to alter approach in subsequent negotiations, but also in creating new levels of retail engagement in the form of retailer-supplier workshops to foster better understanding.
BHETA also tackles the implications of potential new legislation, raising the volume of debate on issues such as knife crime and the purchase of corrosive substances, by representing all those in the industry while helping the Government to address the public interest.
This collective approach also contributes positively to the realisation of mutual industry supplier opportunities whether via export missions, exhibition and travel discounts or networking, promotional and ‘meet the buyer’ opportunities with UK retailers, wholesalers and buying groups.
